Day 19 (Monday 15th Dec 08)

Woke Up and Left at 1100hrs for the Children Hospital along the way to Angkor Wat...when we reach here, there was a Massive Q outside the Hospital..It was a sight I could not believe to see on an early Monday Morning just like the Q ppl back in SGP lining up for Toto during CNY period....Except they came in whole lot of KIDs who is need of medical attention...

What a pity sight..Went to the Guard Hse and enquire to see the In-charge or any Doctors/Officers available..However as infd yesterday...same thing, no doctors or anyone for us..They will be back at 2pm... The Sun was scorching hot & the so-called officer pretend not to understand us. We decided to move off & give the hospital amiss.Proceeded straight to Angkor Wat/Pagoda Orphanage where me & Mel stumbled upon yesterday...went straight but denied entry as it was inside Angkor Wat Area...therefore we U-turned and head towards the Ticketing Counter again which is like 3km away...Argh..!!!!Argh!!!!Damn we are so near yet so far....how could we be denied!!!!

After the hassle of U-turning and communicating with the Ticketing Officers..finally we manage to get into the Orphanage..Its thru the Rear Gate of Angkor...Upon seeing the place...some of the boys came running towards us..with a OOHHHH AHHHHAHH!!! and a BIG GRIN....on their face...One quickly shouted SNOW!!!SNOW!!...haha..My Fav Girl...she came by and all gathered in the Classroom Area...Volunteered Teacher, 'Mr Myin' was not around,he went to Town..so Me & Mel decided to proceed with the Gift distribution to the Kids with the Go Ahead from the Chief Monk...the Kids received with "Wai"@(Both palms together)and said "Thank You"...It was the Most Sincere Thank You I've ever heard. All the 25 kids received a set of color pencils, crayons, colouring books & pencil sets including note books. Some items are meant to be shared and they acknowledged, hopefully they do, knowing kids....A group of 4 older boys and a girl who are volunteers was our translator but surprisingly in such an undeveloped countries, the kids could understand simple English....

Amazing what the center has done for the kids..... Flashcards and pens for Mr Myin to teach the children who has unknown FUTURE!! sigh.... brought tears to my eyes while having lunch thinking of them.... Kids have to suffer due to greed of power! It happens everywhere around the world... How sick can this be!...There will there never be an end to it! We then rushed back to Tanei Ghse to pick up the rest of the gifts and head to Puok District where a HABITAT volunteer awaits us. However, our Tuk-tuk man got lost and it delayed our trip to the 2nd Orphan centre. Angkor Chum was only established 10yrs ago. It suffers from war since 60's till 1998!!! Villagers enjoy supplied electricity from 5am till 10pm!...

Haha tat's No wonders abundance of the babies here hahaha, after 10 lights off... green paddy fields lay left and right of the off-road.... The trees along the 2 lanes road are covered with dust - red sand... 30km to the HABITAT office and we have to stop for the day as it will be too dark to continue journey to the orphan ctr which is another 40km!.... (hint: there will be a delay back to Spore or should I say my leave has just be extended) An hr later, at 7pm out we go to 'restaurant'... Luc Luk... beef stew was yummy...Cool nite with lotsa bright stars and pitch darkness... the wonders of Nature after a cruel daylight
